Can I use AI to write therapy or clinical notes?

Only with a tool built for it, under a Business Associate Agreement with your practice, because clinical notes are protected health information. A general chatbot is the wrong tool for notes, however you phrase the prompt.

Notes are the one place you need the paperwork

Most AI use in a practice can avoid patient information entirely. Notes cannot, because the whole point of a note is the patient. So the tool has to be one whose vendor signs a BAA with your practice and is built to hold clinical records.

What I do and do not do

I do not build or run anything that handles clinical notes or patient records, and I do not sign BAAs. My work sits around that: marketing, content, admin workflows, and training staff on what may and may not go into an AI tool. If you choose a notes tool, you sign with that vendor directly.
